Our founder

Joaquim Gomes da Costa

Born on January 18, 1933, in Maceira in the Leiria region, he founded Tecnicoembalagem SA in April 1985 together with his two sons.

He worked for 30 years at the Paper Bag Factory of Cimpor- Cimentos de Portugal SA, an experience that, combined with his recognized leadership skills, allowed him to grow Tecnicoembalagem SA in a sustained manner over the years.

Both sons had the privilege of learning everything about the industry from their father, with his son Luís Costa standing out for his dynamism and qualities in managing the company and technological modernization.

Luís Costa

Born on September 14, 1963, in Maceira, in the Leiria region, Luís Costa began at an early age to follow his father in the paper bag manufacturing industry, where he developed a passion for the sector.

Over more than 30 years of experience, Luís Costa has not only specialized in all aspects of the production process, but also helped to implement technological innovations and optimize the company's operational efficiency.

Recognized for his strategic vision and leadership, Luís Costa contributed significantly to the growth of the industry at a local and national level, being considered a reference in the sector.

History

With over 30 years of experience in paper bag production and driven by our determination and competence we increasingly focus on an essential objective: produce ecological paper bags that inspire the customer.

From the outset, we seek to anticipate changes and needs of our teams and our clients, investing over time in technical capacity, human Resources and sustainability.

Our strategy and investment options have always focused on the quality and satisfaction of our customers, making us pioneers in Portugal, at the manufacture of paper bags for the feed, grinding and coal industries, gradually allowing us greater productive autonomy.

1985

Founding of Tecnicoembalagem in April 1985.

1988/89

Increase and modernization of the company's facilities as a result of its investment in the open feed bags market.

1992

Acquisition of a pre-printing machine, a pioneer in the introduction of four colors.

1995

Increased diversification of production with sachets intended for packaging feed and flour.

1996

In recognition of the high performance achieved, it received the PME Prestígio Indústria '96 distinction.

1997

Receives the PME Industry Excellence '97 distinction, for its remarkable performance. In the same year, it expanded its facilities to enter the valve bag production market.

1998

Receives the PME Excellence '98 distinction.

2002

The company gains a new corporate name: Tecnicoembalagem - Transformação de papel em Sacos SA, ceasing to be a limited liability company and becoming a public limited company.

2008

It was distinguished as a Leading SME for the quality of its performance and risk profile.

2011

Receives PME Leader status. This year it acquired a new machine, revolutionizing the bag printing process.

2012/2013

It has been awarded PME Líder status for two consecutive years.

2014

It was certified by SGS Portugal, ISO 9001 Quality Systems certification and distinguished by IAPMEI as PME Leader 2014.

2015

Invest in new equipment to match technological innovation. It is distinguished as PME Leader 2015.

2018

It was certified by SGS Portugal, ISO 9001 Quality Systems certification and distinguished by IAPMEI as PME Leader 2014.

2022

It was certified by SGS Portugal, Quality Systems certification - FSC.

2023

Acquisition of a new printer machine.
